Tribute to Selma Shapiro
The third annual Tribute to Selma Shapiro was held in conjunction with the Celebration for the Young Child on April 11, 2014. Please visit the Celebration for the Young Child page for more information on this event.
Shapiro was considered the heart and soul of the museum during the 31 years she provided leadership there, expanding the museum from a group of small exhibits established by Girl Scouts into a regional center of learning and play that now fills the former Highland View Elementary School at 461 West Outer Drive. Shapiro, who volunteered at the museum after her retirement in 2004, died May 3, 2011.
