Waterworks Exhibit and Tugboat

WATERWORKS EXHIBIT

Waterworks Exhibit

Waterworks Exhibit

The refurbished Waterworks exhibit and Franky the Tugboat both are open!!  The exhibit offers children and their families the opportunity to explore navigation on the river, traveling by steamboat, tugboat and barge. They learn how transportation of goods on the water is the single most efficient, economical, and environmentally-friendly choice for transporting freight.

Our tugboat is an excellent example of fine workmanship and volunteer spirit.  Frank Peishel, pictured below with his wife June, spent more than seven years building Franky the Tugboat, with the help of other volunteers.  Executive Deputy Director Carroll Welch says that both the Waterworks exhibit and the tugboat are dedicated to all the volunteers who have shared their time, expertise, and generosity in so many ways.  We celebrate how these acts of volunteerism will bring happiness to so many children.
