Facility Manager (Part Time)
The Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge is seeking a reliable, hands on Facility Manager to help keep our building and grounds safe, clean, and welcoming for the families we serve. This part time position (20–25 hours/week) is ideal for someone who enjoys problem solving, working independently, and taking pride in maintaining a community serving facility.
Our building is an original Manhattan Project–era school, so experience with older structures is a plus.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs
- Supervise two part time janitors
- Coordinate vendors and contractors
- Support safety and building compliance
- Assist with event setup and basic exhibit upkeep
- Maintain museum grounds and outdoor areas
What We’re Looking For:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of comparable experience in a museum or other institutional setting
- Experience in maintenance, facilities, or a related field
- Knowledge of older buildings or historic structures
- Ability to perform hands on repairs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable supervising part time staff and facility volunteers
- Someone dependable, proactive, and mission aligned
Schedule & Pay:
- 20–25 hours per week (not to exceed 25)
- Weekday daytime hours with occasional weekend or evening needs
- $22–$24/hour, depending on experience
- No benefits

Visitor Services Assistant (Weekends)
$12/hour • Part-time (11 hours/week) • Nonexempt
The Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge is seeking a friendly, reliable Visitor Services Assistant to support our busiest days of the week. This weekend only position is ideal for college students, retirees, or anyone who enjoys working with families and wants hands on experience in a museum setting.
Responsibilities include: greeting visitors, selling tickets, memberships, and gift shop items, answering questions about exhibits and programs, supporting birthday parties, monitoring visitor activity for safety, resetting exhibit areas, and helping keep the museum clean and welcoming. Weekend shifts include opening and closing the building and working closely with staff to ensure a smooth, positive visitor experience.
We’re looking for someone 18 or older who is dependable, communicates well, provides excellent customer service, and is comfortable in a fast paced environment. A high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer skills, and a successful background check are required.
Schedule:
- Saturday: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
- Sunday: 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Occasional additional hours may be available but are not guaranteed.
