AMSE Flattop House Now at CMOR
On October 16, 2018, the Manhattan Project-era Flattop House was moved from the former location of the American Museum of Science and Energy to its new home on the grounds of the Children’s Museum of Oak Ridge.
After renovation work, the Flattop House will become a permanent exhibit, teaching visitors about life during the Manhattan Project. At just 576 square feet, the pre-fabricated Flattop is the original “Tiny House.”
We need your help.
The Children’s Museum seeks experienced construction volunteers to help with the home’s renovation, donations of early 1940s furniture, and monetary donations for building materials and upkeep are all needed. For more information contact Beth Shea, the Museum’s Executive Director, at bshea@childrensmuseumofoakridge.org or by phone at (865) 482-1074.
